This recipe provides an easy-to-follow guide for preparing these delectable treats at home. The key ingredients include ground pork, garlic, shredded carrots, green onions (or regular onions), coleslaw or cabbage, eggs, soy sauce, sugar, pepper, and lumpia wrappers. The process begins by cooking the ground pork with oil, garlic, and vegetables, or alternatively, by mixing everything raw. The filling is then rolled into the lumpia wrappers, similar to the process for making egg rolls.
Next, the lumpia are deep-fried in three cups of oil, as the delicate lumpia wrappers do not lend themselves to baking. The frying process ensures a crispy exterior while keeping the filling tender and flavorful. Once cooked to a golden brown, the lumpia are ready to be served. They can be enjoyed as an appetizer or finger food, complemented by a sweet and sour dipping sauce or a sweet and chili sauce, depending on your preference.
