Vietnamese Banh Sung Noodle with Pork

Vietnamese Banh Sung Noodle with Pork is a highly popular dish in Cambodia and Vietnam, often served alongside egg rolls, grilled meat or shrimp, and a variety of herbs, all drizzled with sweet fish sauce. The dish showcases Banh Sung noodles, and when served with egg rolls, it’s recommended to prepare them in advance. The noodles are a key component, providing a delightful texture to the dish.

To prepare the meat, thinly slice 2 pounds of pork loin or beef and marinate it overnight with Chinese BBQ seasoning, oyster sauce, soy sauce, yoshida sauce, and sugar. The meat can be grilled over medium heat until done, contributing a flavorful and succulent element to the Banh Sung Noodle dish. Alternatively, the meat can be stir-fried, but grilling on skewers is suggested for an enhanced taste.

The sweet fish sauce, a crucial component of the dish, is made by boiling sugar in water until dissolved, then adding fish sauce (preferably 3 crabs brand), vinegar, minced garlic, and shredded carrots. The sauce is adjusted to taste, offering a perfect balance of sweetness and savory flavors.

When ready to serve, the Banh Sung noodles are placed in a bowl, topped with the grilled meat, and garnished with Thai basil, Vietnamese mints, mints, cilantro, romaine lettuce, and cucumber. Egg rolls cut into bite-sized pieces are added to the noodle bowl, and the entire dish is drizzled with the prepared sweet fish sauce. A final touch includes roasted crushed peanuts and chili sauce, creating a visually appealing and flavorful Vietnamese Banh Sung Noodle with Pork.

For those desiring a lemongrass BBQ meat flavor, minced lemongrass can be added to the meat during the marination process. This dish is a delicious representation of Vietnamese and Cambodian culinary traditions, offering a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.

In conclusion, the Vietnamese Banh Sung Noodle with Pork is a versatile and flavorful dish that highlights the rich culinary heritage of Cambodia and Vietnam. The combination of grilled meat, fresh herbs, and the sweet fish sauce creates a delightful and satisfying meal that can be enjoyed by those seeking a taste of authentic Southeast Asian cuisine.
