Chinese Wonton Soup Recipe

The Chinese Wonton Soup Recipe offers a simple and flavorful dish that combines a delicate broth with pork-filled wontons and crisp bok choy. The wontons are made by mixing ground pork with ingredients like green onion, soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, and sugar. The mixture is then wrapped in wonton wrappers and refrigerated for an hour to set. For the soup, chicken broth is flavored with ginger, sugar, and soy sauce, creating a savory base. The wontons are steamed separately to ensure they hold their shape, while the bok choy is steamed until tender.

To assemble the dish, the wontons are steamed and set aside, while the bok choy is also steamed to perfection. The prepared chicken broth is brought to a boil and seasoned with ginger, sugar, and soy sauce. Adjustments to taste are made, and green onions are added for a final burst of flavor. When ready to serve, a portion of steamed wontons and bok choy are placed in a soup bowl, and the hot broth is poured over them. Optionally, one can include Chinese sliced BBQ pork or egg noodles to further enhance the dish.

In summary, the Chinese Wonton Soup Recipe offers a delightful combination of savory wontons, tender bok choy, and a well-seasoned broth. The wontons are carefully prepared and steamed separately, while the bok choy adds a crisp and refreshing element to the dish. The chicken broth, infused with ginger, sugar, and soy sauce, forms a flavorful base for the soup. This recipe provides a delicious and satisfying meal option for those looking to enjoy the comforting flavors of Chinese cuisine.

For the soup

25 wontons
1 box (32 oz) chicken broth
1 small package of wonton soup
1 teaspoon of thinly sliced ginger
1 to 2 green onions for garnish
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon to tablespoon of soy sauce
2 small head of baby bok choy cut in to 4 parts

Directions to make Chinese Wonton Soup Recipe

  1. 25 wonton wrappers, place 1 spoon of the filling in a wrapper bush edges with beaten egg. And pinch edges to seal, you can also wrap like tortellini as what I did. Repeat the remaining.
  2. The trick about wonton soup is not to boil the wonton with the soup (the wonton skin will fall apart) or bok choy
  3. Steam 25 wontons, spray with cooking spray onto the steamer so it won’t stick for 20 minutes, the meat should be done. Take the wontons out and set aside.
  4. Steam the bok choy for 5 minutes then take it out.
  5. In a soup pot add chicken broth, wonton soup mix, ginger, sugar, and soy sauce bring to a boil
  6. Taste and adjust the saltiness to your taste, turn the heat off add green onions.
  7. When ready to serve put few steam wontons and baby bok choy in a soup bowl pour hot broth enough for 1 serving into the soup bowl.

Note you can add cook Chinese sliced bbq pork, or cook egg noodle to this soup when ready to serve.
