Thai Lemongrass BBQ Chicken Recipe
The Thai Lemongrass BBQ Chicken Recipe is a mouthwatering dish that is both delicious and remarkably simple to prepare. The key to its exceptional flavor lies in the marination process, with a longer marination period resulting in even more flavorful and tender chicken.
The marination begins with combining chicken (breast, tenderloin, or thigh) with a mixture of lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves, along with fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, minced garlic, lime juice (optional), and crushed chili (optional for added heat). This flavorful marinade infuses the chicken with the aromatic essence of lemongrass and the umami notes of the various sauces.
For the accompanying pickle vegetables, a mixture of hard vegetables like carrot, cucumber, cabbage, daikon, and others can be used. A jalapeño pepper (optional) adds an extra kick of spiciness. To create the pickle, the vegetables are combined with sliced ginger, chopped garlic, sugar, vinegar, fish sauce, and salt. This mixture is left to marinate for a few hours or overnight, allowing the flavors to meld together.
After the chicken has marinated for at least 4 hours, it is ready to be grilled. The chicken is cooked on the grill until the meat is done, ensuring it achieves a beautifully charred and flavorful exterior while remaining tender and juicy on the inside.
To serve, the grilled Thai Lemongrass BBQ Chicken is paired with the prepared vegetable pickle and rice. This combination offers a well-rounded and satisfying meal with a perfect balance of flavors, textures, and spices. The result is a dish that showcases the unique and vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine, making it an excellent addition to any home-cooked meal.
