Draining a pot of pasta or rinsing a cup of rice should not be a balancing act. If your current colander wobbles or tips, you know the frustration. The Gulex 3 Quart Stainless Steel Colander has a footed base that helps it sit still on the counter or in the sink. The fine holes drain water fast, and they are small enough to keep rice grains from slipping through. For anyone who cooks Cambodian or Southeast Asian food at home, this is a simple tool that makes prep work easier. It is worth a closer look if you want a colander that stays put.
Product Summary
The Gulex 3-Quart Stainless Steel Colander is a kitchen strainer made from professional-grade 18/10 stainless steel. It is designed to drain water from pasta, wash vegetables and fruits, and rinse rice and grains. The colander has small, closely spaced holes that let water out quickly while keeping food inside. It is dishwasher safe for easy cleanup.
Why We Recommend It
We selected this colander because it handles everyday kitchen tasks that matter to home cooks. Its footed base helps it stay steady on the counter, which is useful when draining heavy foods like pasta or potatoes. The fine holes work well for washing rice, a common step in Cambodian and Southeast Asian cooking. It is a practical, straightforward tool for ingredient preparation.
Best For
This colander is best for home cooks who need a reliable tool for draining pasta, rinsing vegetables, and washing rice. It suits anyone who cooks Southeast Asian food and wants a colander with holes small enough to rinse grains without losing them. It is also useful for small kitchens where one tool needs to do several jobs.
Things to Consider
The colander holds 3 quarts, which is a medium size. It may be too small for draining large batches of pasta for a big family. The stainless steel body is sturdy but has some weight to it. The footed base takes up a bit more storage space than a flat-bottomed colander. Handles are riveted and not collapsible.
