Rice shows up in almost every Cambodian meal — steamed white rice, sticky rice, rice served with grilled meats and dipping sauces. But cooking it on the stove can be hit or miss. Too much water and it turns mushy. Too little and it sticks to the pot. The Aroma ARC-743 Rice Cooker takes that guesswork out of the equation. You add rice and water, press one button, and it handles the rest. The built-in steam tray even lets you cook vegetables or meat at the same time, which means less time at the stove and fewer pots to wash.
Product Summary
The Aroma ARC-743 Rice Cooker is a compact 6-cup cooked rice cooker with a 1.5-quart capacity. It uses simple one-touch operation to cook white rice, brown rice, and other grains. A steam tray lets you cook vegetables or meat above the rice at the same time. It automatically switches to Keep Warm mode when cooking is done.
Why We Recommend It
We selected this rice cooker because it offers a practical, low-fuss way to prepare rice for Cambodian and Southeast Asian meals. Rice is the foundation of many dishes, from everyday steamed rice to sticky rice served with grilled meats and dipping sauces. This model's small footprint and one-touch operation make it a sensible choice for US home cooks who want consistent results without a steep learning curve. The included steam tray adds useful versatility for preparing simple side dishes alongside the rice.
Best For
This cooker is best for US home cooks who make rice several times a week and want a simple, compact appliance. It suits singles, couples, and small families. It is also useful for anyone cooking Asian meals at home who wants an easy way to prepare rice and steamed vegetables together.
Things to Consider
The 6-cup cooked capacity is best for 1–3 people; larger households may need a bigger model. The inner pot should be hand washed to protect the nonstick coating. The unit is corded electric and requires 120V AC power. The tempered glass lid and steam tray add a few parts to clean. Because it is a one-touch cooker, it does not have programmable settings or a delay timer like some digital models.
