1 package sui mai wrappers or pot sticker wrappers
1 lb (450 gram) of ground pork or 1 lb (450 gram) of shrimps
2 tablespoon chopped bamboo shoot (if you don’t like bamboo use Napa cabbage 1/4 cup)
2 tablespoon chopped water chestnut
2 tablespoon chopped carrot (optional for color only)
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 dried mushrooms chopped (soak in warm water for 20 minutes)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon rice wine
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoon cornstarch
Mix everything together and set aside.
- Hoisin dipping sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon minced ginger (optional)
Few drop of sesame oil
1 teaspoon rice or white vinegar
Chili sauce (optional)
Pinch roasted sesame seeds
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl when ready to serve garnish with roasted sesame seeds
You can use Thai sweet and chili sauce for dipping
Directions
- Put 1 T of filling in the center
- Gather edge around the filling
- Squeeze the center and smooth of the top of Sui Mai
- Place Sui Mai in a steamer and steam for 20 minutes until the pork is done.
- Let it cool before you removed it from the steamer.
