When you are frying spring rolls, blanching noodles, or lifting dumplings out of boiling water, the wrong tool can turn a simple task into a messy one. Food slips off flat spoons. Tongs can crush delicate items. A spider strainer is designed for this exact moment — its wide web basket scoops food quickly and lets oil or water drain away before it reaches your plate. This Berglander set gives you two stainless steel tools with long handles for safer, cleaner work at the stove. It is a practical addition for anyone who cooks fried or boiled dishes at home.
Product Summary
This is a 2-piece stainless steel set that includes a spider strainer with a concave web basket and a punched-hole kitchen skimmer. Both tools are designed for straining, draining, and lifting food from water or oil during cooking. The 33 cm handles help keep your hands away from heat while you work at the stove.
Why We Recommend It
We selected this set because spider strainers and skimmers are genuinely useful tools for everyday home cooking, especially when preparing noodles, fried dishes, and blanched vegetables. These are tasks that come up often in Southeast Asian cooking, including Cambodian-style fried snacks and noodle dishes. The stainless steel construction, dishwasher-safe design, and long handles make it a practical option for US home cooks who want simple, durable tools for draining and serving food.
Best For
This set is best for home cooks who fry, boil, or blanch food regularly and want a dedicated tool for lifting and draining ingredients. It suits anyone who cooks pasta, noodles, dumplings, tempura, or fried snacks and prefers manual tools over electric appliances. It is also a good fit for people exploring Asian cooking who need an affordable strainer option.
Things to Consider
The set includes two tools, so you will need drawer or hanging space to store both. The 33 cm length provides good reach in deep pots, but may feel long if you have limited counter or storage space. The tools are manual and require hand control — they will not automatically drain food for you. As with any metal utensil, use care with non-stick cookware to avoid scratching.
