Calamondin Drink
Calamondin Drink, a vibrant and refreshing beverage, showcases the unique qualities of the small orange-colored citrus fruit known as calamondin. Resembling kumquats in size, calamondin boasts a distinct flavor profile, combining the tastes of orange, tangerine, and lime. In Cambodia, it is a popular practice to use calamondin to create a delightful drink that captures the essence of this versatile citrus fruit.
Crafting the Calamondin Drink requires just a handful of simple ingredients. Begin by slicing one calamondin, removing the seeds, and setting it aside for garnish. Take three calamondins, cut them in half, and squeeze the juice into a tall glass. Add three tablespoons of sugar to the calamondin juice, followed by one cup of club soda, seltzer water, or plain water. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely, enhancing the drink with a perfect blend of sweetness and effervescence.
To complete the Calamondin Drink, add two cups of ice cubes to the glass, creating a cooling effect. Garnish the drink with the previously sliced calamondin for an extra visual appeal. The final result is a refreshing beverage that perfectly balances the citrusy notes of calamondin with the effervescence of club soda and a touch of sweetness from sugar.
This Cambodian concoction is best served immediately, allowing the flavors to meld and providing a burst of invigorating refreshment. The simplicity of this recipe, coupled with the unique taste of calamondin, makes it a delightful choice for those seeking a quick and satisfying drink, especially in the warm climate of Cambodia.
