Chinese Sesame Chicken Recipe

This imparts a rich depth of flavor to the chicken, enhancing its taste and tenderness. The chicken is left to marinate for 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.

For the batter, a mixture of flour, baking powder, baking soda, water, cornstarch, and vegetable oil is prepared. This batter provides a crispy and light coating for the chicken pieces during frying. It’s worth noting that store-bought tempura powder can also be used as an alternative.

The sauce, a crucial component of the dish, is a blend of honey, sugar, ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, and optional chili paste for a spicy kick. This mixture balances sweetness, tanginess, and a touch of heat, creating a well-rounded flavor profile.

In the same wok, a tablespoon of oil is left, and minced garlic is fried until it turns brown, infusing the sauce with a savory aroma. The sauce mixture is then added and heated until it reaches a boil. The fried chicken is reintroduced and mixed well over low heat, allowing the flavors to meld together. The heat is turned off, and chopped green onions are added for a fresh and aromatic touch.

Marinate the chicken

2 breasts about 1lb (900 gram) of chicken cut the meat to bite site
1 teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder
1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil
1 teaspoon of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of rice wine or sherry
Dash of white pepper
Marinate the chicken for 30 minutes.

For the batter

1/2 cup of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon of baking soda
2/3 cup of water (adjusts water to thick or thins the batter)
4 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Mix everything in a bowl and set aside. (I use store bought tempura powder)

For the sauce

3 tablespoon of honey
2 tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoon of ketchup
1 tablespoon of vinegar
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of chili paste for spicy (optional)
Mix them all in a bowl and set aside.

Directions to make Chinese Sesame Chicken Recipe

  1. Add 3 cup of vegetable oil in a wok and turn the heat to medium high,
  2. Take the marinate chicken and coat it with batter or tempura mix.
  3. Deep fry the chicken for 4 minutes or till golden brown, take the chicken out and set it on paper towel.
  4. In the same work leave 1 tablespoon of oil and fry the garlic till brown
  5. Add the sauce mix heat it till boiling
  6. Add the cook chicken mix well on low heat
  7. Turn the heat off add green onion
  8. Garnish your chicken with sesame seeds

Serve with rice
