Chive and Shrimp Dumpling

Chive and Shrimp Dumpling, a delectable dim sum favorite from China, offers a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Unlike some traditional recipes that involve time-consuming clear, white cassava flour wrappers, this version is designed for ease of preparation without compromising on taste. With accessible ingredients like shrimp, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, salt, black pepper, chives, water, cornstarch, and dumpling wrappers, these dumplings provide a quick and convenient way to enjoy the savory goodness of dim sum at home.

The filling for the dumplings is prepared by combining peeled, deveined, and ground shrimp with sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, salt, black pepper, and chopped chives. This mixture is thoroughly combined and set aside. In a separate bowl, a mixture of water and cornstarch is created, serving as a sealing agent for the dumpling wrappers.

To assemble the dumplings, a teaspoonful of the shrimp and chive filling is placed in the center of each dumpling wrapper. The edges of the wrapper are then brushed with the cornstarch water mixture, and the dumpling is folded and pressed together to create a secure seal. This process is repeated until all the shrimp filling is used.

The dumplings are then steamed for 30 minutes, ensuring that the flavors meld together and the wrappers become perfectly tender. To enhance the dining experience, the Chive and Shrimp Dumplings are best served hot, accompanied by a side of sweet soy sauce for dipping. This recipe provides a quick and accessible way to enjoy the authentic taste of dim sum in the comfort of one’s home, making it a delightful addition to any home-cooked Chinese meal.
