Pork Chow Fun Recipe
The Pork Chow Fun Recipe offers a delectable taste of a popular Cantonese Chinese noodle dish, featuring flat rice noodles, choice of protein (chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp), Chinese broccoli, carrot, and a flavorful stir fry sauce. This dish can be easily prepared in a home kitchen using a flat skillet. The recipe provides the option of using either fresh or dried flat rice noodles. If using dried noodles, they should be soaked for 15 minutes and then briefly cooked in boiling water for 1 minute before being drained and set aside.
To begin the cooking process, oil is heated in a non-stick frying pan or wok on medium heat. Minced garlic is added and stir-fried until it turns brown, infusing the dish with a rich aroma. Next, the chosen protein (chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp) is added and cooked until it reaches a nearly done state, ensuring it retains its tenderness and juiciness.
Chinese broccoli and sliced carrots are then introduced to the pan and stir-fried. It’s important to add the thicker stems of the Chinese broccoli first, followed by the leaves once the stems are nearly tender. This ensures that both parts of the vegetable are cooked to perfection. The noodles, whether fresh or pre-cooked dried, are then incorporated into the stir fry mixture and thoroughly combined.
The homemade stir fry sauce is poured over the noodles and ingredients, quickly mixed in to ensure even coating. This sauce consists of chicken broth, tapioca starch, seasoning soy sauce, sugar, and oyster sauce. A dash of white pepper adds an extra layer of flavor. Finally, scrambled eggs are placed on top of the dish, imparting a delightful texture and taste contrast.
To serve, the heat is turned off, and the Pork Chow Fun is presented hot, accompanied by a lemon wedge, chili sauce, and soy sauce for added flavor. This recipe offers a straightforward and enjoyable way to savor the delicious flavors of a classic Chinese noodle dish in the comfort of one’s own home.
